Trees cut

Paul W. and I cut up trees on 14,15 and 16 this morning. Just walking right now is very difficult due to the depth of the snow, so once some of this frozen white stuff melts we need to remove a lot of debris.

Need HELP shoveling

If anyone can help shovel tee pads today or any time this week  it would be greatly appreciated I will be heading out this afternoon to get started on this but it is way to big of a job for one or two people with the amount of snow and ice on the pads right now. If we can get most of the snow off now hopefully with a few days this week above freezing they will be clear for the Ice Bowl this weekend. Please post what tee pads are done  so we can head to the ones that still need cleared.

Hopefully people are getting these messages. I think it might be a good idea to open up the old Yahoo board up to get more people aware of what has happened at Quake and maybe find some help at Quake and Boulder, as well as getting word out about the upcoming events and tag season. At least till we get further into the tag rounds to get people signed up for our new board.

Tee pad update

All tee pads are shoveled down to the ice hopefully Mother Nature will be kind to us and we can get some temps above freezing to thaw some ice. A big thank you to Billy Charron and his dad Bill Charron Sr. they were at Boulder shoveling when I got there to lend a hand.

Opening up the Yahoo group for MAJOR announcements would be a good idea ... the membership in the Yuku group is taking a long time to build.  Tournament announcements, major workdays, Tag start and finale dates ... stuff like that.  And maybe an announcement that the Yuku group has been stabilized and now is pretty damn functional so people may want to join.

#8 Basket Fund

After a huge outpouring of support today at the EXTRA Fun Ice Bowl, the #8 basket replacement fund balance mushroomed to $187, which represents an $87 increase over this morning's starting balance.

For those still wishing to contribute as we approach our $300 goal, please see an 0800 crew member, and/or check out the photo of the carnage and collection bucket available on TNT nights, until the goal is reached.

Hope to see ALL at the BW course for this Tuesday evening's first TNT of 2014 (Beam, any change to the 3:30 start time?), and also at the Pivotal  Reverse  Drawing  at The Lake, which concludes the 2013-2014 WFL season with a BANG  (to be held immediately after this Tues TNT round).

PS. social committee has been in contact w/ Lake management to secure the necessary overflow seating for this Tuesday night's blowout.

#8 Basket balance continues to grow...

While 12 Llamas took part in the pivotal drawing at The Lake this evening, the fundraising for the replacement of QC #8 also steamrolled onward.  As a result of tonight's additional contributions, the #8 replacement balance increased from $187 to $227.  Thank YOU to all Llamas for your generous acts of community service and/or monetary support !

Small Band of Volunteers Attacks Pile(s)...

Four volunteers continued to battle the 30-50 downed trees on QC this morning, vastly improving playing conditions on #8, #14, #15 and #16. Between the deadfall pieces and the pieces felled by chainsaw, the course is still ripe for more picker-uppers and dragger-offers. One could say a lot more  of these types of tradespersons are still needed.

The 0800 crew received a blood transfusion in the form of Brandon Lieffring. One could even say it was a "young blood" transfusion. Thanks BL, not only for the sweat equity and course karma, but also for proving one can still take home a top tag despite burning mucho calories before the round.

#8 Basket balance continues to grow...

3/9/14 Update -  The fund grew by another $40 today at Sunday tags bringing the new total to $267.  The collection plate will be available again at TNT, but as always, contributions can be made at anytime, by seeing an 0800 Crew member, etc.

Speaking of the 0800 Crew, a small but tenacious band of brothers continued to chip away at the ice, snow & fallen timber before today's round. Capitalizing on some thorough debris removal by Brandon beginning on SATURDAY, today's volunteers sustained the momentum, improving playing conditions on 3,4,5,15 & 16.

#8 Basket balance continues to grow...GOAL REACHED !

The last two Tag rounds have rang the register to the point that the accounting firm of Dewey, Fleesom & Howe could barely keep up with the outpouring of support. To recap:

- Sunday's round produced $40 sufficient to elevate the total from $227 to $267 !!

- Tonight's TNT round generated an additional $33 to bring the final total to $300 !!

All proceeds were formally presented to The Club this evening, amidst the most pristine playing conditions of the 2014 Tag Season

To All Club members we say... Thank YOU for your continued support !  #8 shall Rise Again !

The 0800 crew continued to work on QC today, where the damage from the ice storm remains extensive. Before the round holes 12 & 17 were reclaimed. Improvements were made  to several other holes too, just couldn't see them all from my post.

Thanks go out to Ken Perkins, whose wife was convinced he wouldn't make it out of bed in time, Gary Sheaffer, operating on a bad knee, Jayson A, operating with a bad back, Paul, pick a body part, and Brandon, who began the operations on #12 earlier in the week.

At this rate we're still a month out from "normal" dead-fall wise, just in time for the grass to be growing out of control.

See everyone at the course for pickup sticks as you can make it.

PS. Thanks to the 12 TAG players too, as all groups picked up as they went, out of necessity and love.
